Media Consumption Audit

  Newspapers :

  1. Which daily newspapers (if any) do you read? - No, but if I were to choose a newspaper it would be Metro
  1. What sections of newspapers do you turn to first, and why?-  would turn to the sections that take about jobs and adverts and on Thursday grab a coupon for Mcdonalds and any other shop that is available.
  1. What sections do you never read, and why?- The section about recent events. This is because it is long and it can get boring after a while.
  1. What kinds of stories do you usually read and why?- I do not really read stories but if I did I would read the stories about anything local that's happening
  1. Do you, or someone else, buy the newspaper you read?- I don't buy newspapers, they are usually free and can be grabbed at stations.
  1. Do you look at the online versions of any newspapers? Which newspapers? Why do you visit their website and not others - I don't look at any online versions of newspapers, because I am not interested in them so I do not look them up.


Magazines
  • What magazines (if any) do you buy regularly?  Why? 
        - I do not buy any magazines, they do not interest me either.
  • What sections of the magazines do you read and not read, and why?
       - I don't read any but in the shops, i usually just check out the front page because it stands out.

Television
  • Approximately how many hours a week do you spend watching television?
       - I watch about 30 hours of TV a week
  • What times of day do you usually watch television?
      - straight after school on weekdays and on weekends in the evenings
  • What programs do you like best and why?
       - Power because it is so interesting and one of the most unique shows and you can never predict what is going to happen. Also, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, one of the funniest programs out there and I can watch the same episode and never get bored. I am mostly not funny and Crime shows.
  • Do you watch alone or with others? If you watch with others, who decides what you will watch?
      - Sometimes I watch alone but other times I watch Tv with my family. If I watch with family we usually watch a funny movie.
  • Do you watch 'live' TV or on-demand/catch-up? Do you use any other devices to watch TV (such as laptop or tablet?)
      - I mosly watch it on demand, mostly on Netflix.



Radio
  • Do you listen to the radio?
     - I only listen to the radio when I am at work.
  • If yes, what stations do you like best and why?
     - They usually put on Kiss or BBC Radio, they play the latest music and most popular which is what I like.
  • Approximately how many hours a week do you spend listening to the radio?
     - 16 hours 
  • What times of the day do you usually listen to the radio?
      - Only weekends
  • Where do you listen to the radio?
    -  At work
  • What other activities (if any) do you do whilst listening to the radio?
    - Cook, Clean and serve customers
  • Does anyone else in your house listen to the radio? If so, when do they listen?
     - No one in my family listens to the radio because they think its old fashion.



Cinema
  • What films have you seen in the cinema in the last month?
      -Girl trip and Annabelle; The Creation
  • What films have you seen in other places – for example, through Netflix, Amazon Prime, satellite/cable film channels (free or otherwise) or streaming?
     - Just go with it, Pink Panther, Think like a Man 1&2, About Last night, Chocolate City, Boy Bye and Brotherly Love
  • Who else watched the films with you?
     - My two friends 
  • Who decided what films to watch?
     - We have the same interested we all wanted to see the movies so we went to go watch it
  • What devices do you typically use to watch films: TV, laptop, tablet, phone etc.?
    - Laptop and TV



Online
  • How often do you access the internet?
    -24 hours a day
  • Where do you access the internet?  At home, at college or school, or at work?
    - Everywhere I go
  • What are the main sites that you access?
    - Home and School
  • What are the main reasons for accessing these sites – for example, for information, to make purchases, communicate with friends or for entertainment?
     - Communicating with friends and family and for information
  • What other activities (if any) do you do whilst accessing the internet?
      - listen to music and play games.
  • What different devices do you use to access the internet? What is your primary device for accessing the internet?
       - Laptop, phone, smart TV. my primary device is my Phone.
  • What social networks do you use regularly (e.g. Twitter, Instagram)? Why do you belong to these networks in particular?
       -Instagram, Snapchat, and Whatsapp



Reflection
  • How can you develop the amount and variety of media you consume?
    - By using reading off paper rather than on technology. For example, newspapers and magazines.
  • What will you change in your media consumption habits this year as a result of studying A Level Media?
    - Watch fewer hours of TV and movies and read more newspapers.
  • List three sources of media (websites/newspapers/apps/TV programs etc.) that you will start to access this year that you haven't engaged with previously.
    - Kaboodle, the guardian and revision webesites.
