1) What has happened to print media in the last 30 years?
-->There has been a decline in the amount of printed newspaper sold because of the rise of new and digital media. Due to the internet audiences can now consume a huge amount of news and information for free; this is information that back in the 1950s and 60s people had to pay for there information. MOst blame journalist and companies for this change as they did not keep with evolving time. Hence the drop in revenue, they relied so much on printed copies that they did not consider using the internet.
2) Why is the Independent newspaper such a good case study for the decline in print media?
--> The independent sold 280,000 copies in the 90s. It sold the least amount of newspapers in comparison to other papers. It then ceased to exist in 2016 after a scandal.
3) What was the Independent newspaper famous for?
--> It was famous for its unorthodox font page and its unbiased stories.
4) What did the then-owner of the Independent, Evgeny Lebedev, say about the newspaper's digital-only future?
--> He said the " newspaper industry is changing and that change is being driven by readers. They are showing us the future is digital. this decision preserves the independent brand and allows us to continue to invest in high-quality editorial content that is attracting more and more readers to our platform."
5) How do online newspapers make money?
-->Newspapers online make money through the paywall. This allows only people who are subscribed to read the article allowing newspapers to gain revenue from it.
6) What did the Independent's longest-serving editor Simon Kelner warn regarding the switch to digital?
--> He stated that it will be very difficult to replicate the originality in it the independent design and iconoclastic.
7) What is the concern with fake news? What does 'post-truth' refer to?

--> I think the decline in print media is because of the development of new technology and this means that news papers have to find new ways off making reveune. The amount of people that have bought a printed newpaper has dropped dramatically. Therfore, I think that news should be free. This is because no one is willing to pay for the news. They are more likely get it illegally.
