--> This article is about a shortcoming of age movie that was created by this person and the storyline was about a young boy living his life as part of the LGBTQ community. This story tells inspires young LGBTQ people to live life how they want to live it. The LGBTQ community has found it hard to live life and for them to find a film that relates to there struggles is something new. This would be an example of soft news because it has nothing to do with current affairs, it is about the creative industry.
  • Explain how or why this story appeals to an audience (use media terminology and theory here).
--> The audience appeal would be personal identity in Blumer and Katz uses and gratifications theory. This story allows young people in the LGBTQ community to relate tot he matter and help them find some identity. The main character is seen as an inspiring person in the community hence the reason for a gain in personal identity. Another audience pleasure could be surveillance because it provides information to help the LGBTQ community live life how they want to live.
  • Comment on the story: to what extent does it reflect the values and ideologies of the newspaper? Is this an example of quality journalism or simply clickbait?
--> This story does not reflect the ideologies and values of the newspaper because it is a left-wing newspaper and very conservative. They do not support the LGBTQ community, but ever since the new editor came in they have changed quite a bit. This is an example of quality journalism because it looks like they have spent time on this article.
